Indiana University Columbus is having walk-in hours to meet with admissions counselors April 1 through April 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for high school juniors and seniors, as well as anyone considering IU Columbus.

There’s a path to an affordable degree from Indiana University right here in Columbus, and we encourage anyone who’s thinking about college to come out and learn more.

Jayne Morris, IU Columbus Assistant Director of Enrollment Management

Morris says her team is happy to discuss options with those who are considering higher education for the first time, returning students, those who previously planned to attend elsewhere, high school seniors who are undecided, and juniors who want to be prepared.

Students and families can meet one-on-one with IU Columbus staff to learn about undergraduate and graduate programs, get hands-on assistance with the application process, take a campus tour, and have their questions answered. A Spanish-speaking counselor and materials are also available upon request.

Prospective students who are interested in applying should bring:

  • Their social security number
  • A smart phone; a laptop computer or tablet may also be helpful, but are not required
  • Log-in information to request their high school transcripts electronically (through Parchment or Naviance)
  • An email address that is not a school email
  • SAT or ACT scores for those who wish to self-report them (not required)
  • If a student has already stared their application online, they should bring their guest account ID (email and password), or their IU account details to access their in-progress application.

Walk-in hours are also a chance to talk about next steps after admission, such as taking the math placement exam, attending orientation, meeting with an academic advisor, filling out FAFSA for federal financial aid, and learning about scholarship opportunities.

“There’s still time to attend IU Columbus in the fall, and we have a team of people ready to help,” Morris added. “Remember, students can apply online anytime, and currently there is no fee to apply to IU Columbus.”

Admitted IU Columbus students are also welcome to attend walk-in hours if they have questions, issues, or would like one-on-one help.

For walk-in hours, be sure to arrive between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and go to the Admissions Office (located inside Door 3 in the Campus Center Building at 4601 Central Ave., Columbus IN). If those times aren’t convenient, prospective students are always welcome to schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor; virtual and in-personal meetings are available.
