IU East announces faculty promotion and tenure

Four faculty members at Indiana University East recently received approval for promotion and/or tenure by IU President Michael McRobbie and the Indiana University Board of Trustees. All are effective beginning the 2020-2021 academic year.



Receiving promotion and/or tenure, or a long-term contract is a significant career milestone; a recognition of achievements and contributions, of which these faculty and our campus community can be proud. The faculty members are part of IU East’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Faculty Promotion and Tenure
Denise Bullock, was promoted to professor of sociology. Bullock is the chair for the Anthropology, Geography and Sociology departments. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, her Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Houston, and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Central United Methodist College.

Amanda Kraha



Bullock’s primary research areas of emphasis are sexualities; identity, social inequality; social control and deviance. Her current research focuses on gender and sexual identity transitions as well as continued research on early pornography. She has recently been published in the Journal of the History of Sexuality.

Amanda Kraha, received tenure and was promoted to associate professor of psychology. She received her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of North Texas and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Arkansas Tech University.

Jessica Raposo



Kraha’s research interests include online teaching and learning as well as professional issues in psychology and autobiographical memory. She has recently been published in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.

Jessica Raposo, received tenure and was promoted to associate professor of music. She received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Orchestral Instruments from the University of British Columbia, her Masters of Music in Performance from the University of London/Royal Academy of Music and her Bachelor of Music in Wind Instruments from the University of Michigan.

Raposo’s current interests are in British and American flute performance practice, research resource development for performers and music as a tool for community building.

Eevett Loshek



Eevett Loshek, was promoted to senior lecturer in psychology. She received her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and her Master of Science in Experimental Psychology from the University of North Dakota. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin.

Loshek works with Girls, Inc. in Richmond and Richmond High School students on beauty perceptions of young women.
