Indiana University East ranked in the top five Best Colleges in Indiana by Best Value Schools recently. IU East is ranked one of 35 public and private institutions of higher education in Indiana on the list, all accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
IU East is in the top 10 along with IU Southeast, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest and IU South Bend.
According to Best Value Schools the company researches colleges and universities to find the best schools to meet prospective students’ needs for the best possible price.
The rank highlights IU East’s online degree completion programs, including 14 bachelor’s degrees and three graduate certificates, over 800 online courses to choose from and its small class sizes.
The Best College in Indiana list compares the institutions on location, tuition for Indiana residents and out-of-state residents, total enrollment and student-to-faculty ratio, and graduation rates. Each school received a score based on those factors, which defined at least 50 percent or more of each score, and were then ranked. Additional factors such as faculty experience, student feedback, number of online offerings, student resources or job placement were also included in the score.
IU East offered its first three online degree completion programs in 2008, attracting students from across the state, country and internationally, who wanted to earn a world-recognized IU degree at an affordable cost.
This spring semester at least 80 percent of IU East students were enrolled in at least one online course. A recent three-part series shares IU East’s long history in developing online degree completion courses and programs. IU East’s experience and background in online learning prepared faculty to teach the remainder of the semester through all-online courses in response to the novel coronavirus crisis.
IU East’s online degree programs offer the high quality of an Indiana University degree to students throughout Indiana, nationally and internationally.
There are 14 options for students to complete their bachelor’s degree online. They include English with an emphasis in Technical and Professional Writing, Applied Health Science, Mathematics, Natural Science and Mathematics with a Mathematics Concentration, Communication Studies, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Psychology, General Studies, Informatics, Sociology, and an RN to B.S.N. Mobility Option. IU East also offers a Graduate Certificate in Composition Studies, Graduate Certificate in Mathematics and a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education.
