IU Indianapolis Sociologist Listed as 2024 ScholarGPS Global Highly Ranked Scholar

ScholarGPS, which is “the world’s most comprehensive scholarly analytics platform,” just released their 2024 “Highly Ranked Scholars” list for the prior 5 years in sociology. Andrew Whitehead, professor of sociology and director of the Association of Religion Data Archives at IU Indianapolis, is ranked #7 globally out of over 45,000 scholars ranked in sociology in the last 5 years. Looking at the US alone his ranking increases to #5. “Highly Ranked Scholars” are those with ranks of 0.05% or better based on their productivity, impact, and quality of research. Dr. Whitehead is the only “highly ranked scholar” from any field across all of IU Indianapolis over the last 5 years.
