Join Dr. Kryder-Reid for a public program on June 22 part of the Indy Toxic Heritage: Pollution Place and Power exhibit on view through Aug 5 at Central Library.

Indy Toxic Heritage: Pollution, Place, and Power is on display on the 6th floor of the Central Library through August 5th. The exhibit blends storytelling and historical research to explore environmental damage and advocacy for justice as part of Indianapolis’s citywide heritage. It is a collaborative project of Indiana University Indianapolis Museum Studies faculty and students, Indy Parks & Recreation, Kheprw Institute, and community-based scholar and activist Kay Hawthorne.

On Sunday, June 22, 2025 2:00-3:30 pm Dr. Elizabeth Kryder-Reid, IU-I Museum Studies Program, is offering a public program about the Indy Toxic Heritage project. Come learn about Indy’s complex histories of environmental harm and injustice, and how a community-curated exhibit has sparked conversation about pollution’s hidden histories. Following the interactive presentation, attendees will be invited to view the exhibit and explore connections with their own neighborhoods and experiences.
