Indiana governor’s race: IU experts available to comment

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The field of candidates vying to be Indiana governor continues to grow after U.S. Sen. Mike Braun and Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch officially announced their candidacies for the office Dec. 12. Current Gov. Eric Holcomb is not eligible to run again in 2024 due to term limits.

Braun’s gubernatorial candidacy will open up the U.S. Senate seat he won in 2018 after defeating incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly. Republican Rep. Jim Banks said in a statement he is strongly considering running for the open Senate seat.

Indiana University political science experts are available to comment on the governor’s race and what it could mean for the state and national political landscape.
