NSSE is pleased to announce that the 2024 administrations of NSSE and FSSE have launched and are in the field.
373 participating institutions have registered and customized the NSSE survey to their specific needs and will have access to raw live data downloads in the spring before receiving their data reports in the summer.
Participating colleges and universities select customization options designed to tailor both student recruitment efforts and survey content. Campuses customize recruitment message content, including signatories and subject lines, and have the option to post survey links for students in their portal/learning management system. Survey content is customizable by adding additional questions from NSSE’s Topical Modules or by participating in a consortium, as well as choosing from among four different open-ended questions on the final page of the survey. Institutions also have the option of customizing their open-ended question, too.
Quick facts on the 2024 administration:
- 91.6% of participating institutions elected to use at least one Topical Module.
- The Academic Advising Topical Module repeated as the most popular Topical Module, as 20.2% of Topical Module-participating institutions elected to use the module in 2024.
- The Mental Health and Well-Being Topical Module, which debuted in 2023, increased in popularity among participating institutions, from 8.8% in 2023 to 10.5% in 2024.
- 107 institutions are participating in a consortium.
- 58.55% of participating institutions used incentives to encourage students to participate in the NSSE survey administration, and among those institutions, 53.0% used drawings for gift cards.
- 263 institutions used links in their student portals/learning management systems for students to access the NSSE survey.
