Ready for spring enrollment? Here are five tips from your advisors

Oct 19, 2023

It’s time to start selecting your classes for spring! Priority class registration begins Oct. 30 and goes until Nov. 3, 2023; You can still register until the end of the semester.

Your IU Columbus academic advisors are here to help you get ready. To make the process easier and answer common questions, advisors shared five pro tips, many of them coming from upperclassmen and recent grads who’ve been successful reaching their academic goals.

  1. Find out when your registration window opens. Your individual date and time are listed in the Enrollment Dates section of the Student Center.

  2. Meet with your academic advisor about your class selection ASAP (make an appointment here). If an in-person or zoom meeting doesn’t fit in your schedule, you can always e-mail them a list of your anticipated classes, and they can review it and provide feedback.

  3. Load your classes into your shopping cart now. There’s no need to wait until your enrollment window opens.

  4. Set an alarm or reminder on your phone for the date and time your registration window opens.

  5. Make sure to click “enroll” when your enrollment window opens.

Remember, you’re always welcome to reach out to your academic advisor with questions about class enrollment, degree requirements, help choosing or changing a major, your academic goals/progress, and more. Even if you don’t have pressing questions, it’s best to touch base with them once a semester to make sure you’re on track.

We all want our students to be successful and reach their full potential. My best piece of advice is to reach out, ask questions, and stay in touch with your advisor.
