The Democracy Plaza on Level 1 of the Campus Center and in the Business/SPEA building breezeway will be reimagined during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters.

A task force composed of students, faculty and staff has been established and charged with examining the original mission of Democracy Plaza and its two locations. The task force will propose a new format or structure for both locations that are educationally informative, thought provoking, engaging, inviting and inclusive.

The current mission of the Democracy Plaza is to support students through critical thinking and civil discourse on political, cultural and societal issues.

“To remain true to our roots and the original mission of Democracy Plaza, there is no better time than now to reaffirm our commitment to our core values of fostering inclusivity; encouraging open and respectful dialogue; and building a strong, engaged and well-informed academic community,” said Eric Weldy, vice chancellor for student affairs at IU Indianapolis.

The campus community is encouraged to share feedback through the form below which will be reviewed and considered by the task force as they complete their work. The feedback form will remain open until the task force work is completed.
