Looking for a spring break getaway without the hassle of travel? A staycation in Indianapolis offers the perfect opportunity to explore the city’s best attractions, food spots and hidden gems — all in one day. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure or a mix of both, here’s a full itinerary to make the most of your Indy staycation.

Morning: Coffee and culture

Start your day with a caffeine boost from Provider Coffee and Cocktail Lounge, known for its aesthetic vibes and signature lavender latte. If you’re feeling hungry, grab an artisanal pastry or a breakfast sandwich before heading to your next stop.

Next, immerse yourself in the city’s rich culture at Newfields, home to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the LUME, a popular digital art experience. Stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens, check out the latest exhibits and snap some Instagram-worthy photos.

Afternoon: Local eats and outdoor adventures

For lunch, head back downtown to Yard House — a high-energy spot with a huge menu and fun atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood for a burger, tacos or a plate of their famous truffle fries, it’s a great place to take a break without slowing down the day.

After lunch, take advantage of being just a short walk from White River State Park, where you can stretch your legs along the canal or rent a pedal boat for a different view of downtown.

From there, keep the afternoon going with a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo. Wander through the orangutan center, check out the dolphin exhibit or just take your time exploring the different habitats at your own pace.

Evening: Entertainment and nightlife

As the sun sets, grab dinner at The Garage Food Hall in the Bottleworks District. This trendy food hall offers a variety of cuisines, from tacos and poke bowls to gourmet burgers. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, stop by Lick Ice Cream for a scoop of their locally made flavors.

Next, make a pitstop at Pins Mechanical Co., also located in the Bottleworks District, where you can bowl, play pinball or challenge your friends to a game of giant Jenga.

For live music or theater, consider Old National Centre, which regularly hosts concerts, comedy shows and touring Broadway performances.

For a more traditional theater experience,   Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University offers everything from symphonies to dance performances.

A day in Indy offers everything from scenic parks and museums to delicious food and exciting nightlife — all without having to leave the city. Whether you’re planning a solo adventure or a fun outing with friends, this guide ensures you experience the best of Indianapolis.
