Complete the GenAI 101 Canvas course, win prizes—it’s that easy.
The Office of Student Life is excited to introduce the GenAI Challenge! In alignment with Indiana University’s commitment to innovation and student engagement, two campus-wide competitions will be launched to promote course completion and celebrate community spirit: one focused on residence halls, and the other on student organizations.
Challenge 1: Residence Hall Competition
In this competition, residence halls will compete to have the highest percentage of residents complete the GenAI 101 Canvas course by November 1, 2025.
Eligibility and participation:
- Open to all students living in residence halls (not limited to first-year students).
- The hall with the highest completion percentage in each of the four residential neighborhoods will win.
- Neighborhoods: Central, Southeast, Northeast, and Northwest.
- To qualify, a residence hall must have at least 25% of its residential population complete the course.
Prizes:
- The top hall in each neighborhood will receive a pizza party for its residents.
- Please note: Pizza parties must be held by the end of the 2025–2026 academic year.
To ensure that all students in the residence halls benefit from the celebration, participation is open to all on-campus residents, not just first-year students.
Challenge 2: Student Organization Competition
In this competition, student organizations will compete to have the highest percentage of members complete the GenAI 101 Canvas course by November 1, 2025.
Eligibility and participation:
- All registered student organizations in good standing at IU Bloomington are eligible to participate.
Organizations will compete within seven categories:
- Arts and Entertainment
- Greek Life
- Civic Engagement and Advocacy
- Sports and Recreation
- Religious and Spiritual Life
- Service and Philanthropy
- Academic and Professional Development
Prizes:
- The organization with the highest number of completions in each category will win.
- Each category winner will receive $750 in funds to use with a campus-based unit that charges fees, such as IU Dining, Recreational Sports, or the IMU.
- Please note: Funds must be spent by the end of the 2025–2026 academic year.
