A new semester is a fresh chance to meet new people, explore campus resources and get involved in ways that match your interests. Whether you want to work on campus, volunteer or jump into friendly competition, IU Indianapolis offers opportunities to build skills and strengthen your connection to campus. Here are five ways to get involved this spring semester:
1. Build healthy relationships
Healthy Relationships Week is a campus-wide initiative focused on respect, communication and well-being across friendships, romantic partnerships, family connections and professional relationships. Throughout the week, students are invited to engage in interactive events, workshops and movement-based activities that promote boundaries, self-advocacy and emotional wellness.
Highlights include Move Together with Campus Recreation, where students can bring a guest to group fitness classes for free, and Love University – The Professional Glow Up, a workshop designed to help student employees build confidence and healthy dynamics in the workplace.
2. Work on campus with Student Affairs
Getting involved isn’t just about joining clubs. Feel connected to campus by becoming a student employee! On-campus jobs help students build skills, earn money and build friendships with other Jags.
Student Affairs is one of the top student employers at IU Indianapolis, with 275–300 student employees working across more than 40 roles at any given time. Open positions like content interns, intramural officials and Campus Center info desk members can be found on Handshake.
3. Participate in Jagathon
Jagathon is one of our biggest student-led traditions, and one of the most meaningful. Each spring, students come together for an 11-hour dance marathon filled with music, games, activities and community — all while raising funds for Riley Hospital for Children.
Whether you participate with friends, join an organization team or come dance to support the cause, Jagathon is a powerful way to make memories while making a difference.
4. Try esports and intramurals
Intramurals are a fun way to stay active indoors, compete and meet other students. Campus Recreation offers a variety of intramural sports like volleyball, badminton, pickleball and soccer in a low-pressure, community-focused environment.
This spring, students can also sign up for esports intramurals, a brand new option designed for those who want to connect through gaming. Opting in to your rec fee is required to participate.
5. Volunteer at Paws’ Pantry
Directly support Jaguars facing food insecurity and help them have access to essential resources by serving at Paws’ Pantry. Volunteers will stock shelves, sort donations, organize pantry items, assist with inventory and prepare food and supply distributions.
Whether you want to give back, earn service hours or support campus well-being, this is a meaningful way to strengthen the IU Indianapolis community.
